Amp Question
« on: August 28, 2008, 01:27:19 pm »
For you who are a little more electronic savy than me I have a Power Amp question.

What would be a better match, TWO 200S amps running ONE 215 Cab EACH, or ONE 2000S running TWO 215 Cabs?

I'm thinking about putting together a tube PA and might want to run a crossover with the bottom going to TWO 200S cabs with D140s.  So would a seperate 200S power amp to each cab work better or a 2000S power amp feeding both cabs?

Thanks,
Johnny G.

Should be the same. In either case, it's four 6550 tubes feeding four D140s. Any difference in power would be insignificant.

The only advantage I see is that using the 2000S allows simultaneous and matching volume and tone adjustment of both cabinets. So that's the way I'd go, if all else were equal.

With 1 amp per cab you at least have a backup if one amp goes down..
