Sunn 115BH Cab
« on: September 16, 2008, 02:47:29 pm »
So I finally purchased my first Sunn Bass cab and I have one question. I currently have a SWR Basic 350 that I run a Fender 1x15 cab with a 8 ohm Kappa Pro LF and I want to run the Sunn cab too, but it states that it can only handle 80 watt continually. It has the original speaker. It seems a lot of vintage stuff is underrated when it comes to power handling...so my question is: Can this Sunn cab work in this setup with out blowing it out?
I might have left out some pertinent information so let me know. I'm not a techie just a fan. Thanks.

You should change the speaker. Kappa Pro LF is a good choice but a little dark sounding. The non-LF is brighter but may not be able to reproduce extreme lows without distortion.

Remember, back in the day.....the amps were "under-powered" as well. Then again, many of those under powered speakers were more efficient than today's high power monsters.....less watts....same volume. Used to be power was expensive...today power is cheap.
