just found a 4x12
« on: September 30, 2008, 04:20:19 pm »
Hello again, I just located a very minty silver face sunn 4x12 a block from my house for $229 at a pawn shop. Should I get it to go with this 1200s I'm getting this eve? I believe it's from the same year & would look & sound awesome BUT I'll be playing my '80 Ric 4001 w/distortion through it. Would that be a good combo or should I keep looking for an actual bass cab? I just can't believe I found that so fast & so close to me it seems I HAVE to get it  :-D

Thanks again,
Chris

Hi there, yes grab it !!It's really a guit. cab with guit. spkrs.,so be careful using it for bass.It would be good in a bi-amp rig though.Good luck with the purchase,Mel.

Well, I was able to check the cab out & to my dismay it's a new sunn/fender 4x12 :-o I guess that would explain why it was is such good shape. It's a 16 ohm cab so my question is would it still be a good bass cab for that old 1200s?

Thanks,
Chris

I believe(could be wrong) the fender made 4x12s had celestion G12T-75s in them which I actually really enjoy with bass and often used with my Model T(along with vintage 30s, greenbacks, guitar speakers only really).

depends on the tone you're looking for, but to me you can't beat a nice guitar cab for a good rough distorted tone. with a ric I think it would sound great.
