Need some help....
« on: October 05, 2008, 10:55:03 pm »
So I blew the original speaker in my Sunn 115BH. I knew I would since I was running it with a SWR basic 350. Yes, it was stupid, but now what do I do? Do I:
a. Rebuild the speaker with a voice coil that can handle more wattage?
b. Find another speaker to stick in there?
If you have answers to these questions...please for the love of god let me know. I'm dyin' with out this cab. Do you know of any good speakers to replace the originals with? I run a SWR Basic 350. It puts out 300 watts at 4 ohm. I have paired the Sunn cab with a Fender Cab that I'm running a Kappa Pro LF in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had trouble with the frame depth when I replaced the speaker in mine. Any cast frame speaker was too thick to fit under the top edge of the front thickening board (around the front of the cabinet). I put a Utah with a 3" VC and rated at 150 watts....love it. Other folks on this site have been able to put JBL with cast frames in them. Make sure you can return whatever you buy since it may not fit. Perhaps an Eminence with a stamped steel frame? Maybe Sunn made changes in the production run, don't know, just my experience.
