Strange Problem With '69 Solarus
« on: November 07, 2008, 10:08:33 am »
As of late, the amp has started doing something really weird when the volume is above 9. It's kind of hard to explain in plain text, but basically, when the amp is cranked, the speakers will pulse very quickly (imagine a tremolo effect with the speed all the way up), but this stops when I roll the bass down to zero. It's strange (to me, anyway) and I'm just wondering what could be causing this.

I'm more than likely going to take this amp to a tech within the next couple of weeks, but I'd like to hear what you guys think before I do. This way, I can get a rough idea as to what it'll cost to fix it.

Hi there, sounds like you have a LFO,(low freq.oscillation) and the bass control is adding gain to the oscillation. If you know how to use a scope, you can start at the front end and go through the amp, you'll find it eventually.Good luck Mel.
