What is the difference between the solarus and sceptre heads?

They appear to have the same features, and I'm pretty sure both had kt88/6550 tubes. The knob configuration seem exact on the face of the amps too. My reference btw is the sunn amp museum page http://sunn.ampage.org/site/museum/

Hi there,I've got a 68 or 69 Solarus that has EL 34's,(6CA7's).It's rated at 40 wrms, not 60 like the ones with KT 88's/6550's.It also has smaller transformers and no mid boost control, but I think everything else is the same.Either way they're both great heads, good luck,Mel.

In 69 all the guitar heads had midboost. There should be a small piece of paper on the inside of the head box on the left side as viewed from the back with the amp's name and the tube layout.

They are the same. The differences were the nameplate and the speaker that came with the head.
