Hello,
Well if you just cruise through this forum you might answer the question for yourself. Hint: try finding the postings by Conrad Sundholm.

Hello there.  From what my Dad (Norm Sundholm) has told me.. The original name of the amps, were "Sundholm amps".    because that is a difficult name to remember, He decidend to shorten it to / SUN  However just one problem. there was already a SUN ELECTRONICS   so.   it became SUNN...   the dots i guess are to represent the rest of the name.

Sincerly,
Brian Sundholm

Hey Brian, I just found this site. Next time you talk to your dad, tell him I said hello. One of the high spots in my musical career is playing Louie, Louie with your dad at the Gemini pub about ten years ago. Con and your dad built my 60's band equipment (including a portable cut down B3) when they were working out of the garage on Carman drive. Say hi for me..Mark Gensman.

Brian,
Tell your dad howdy for me.  We ran into each other more than once or twice in the old glory days of Pacific Northwest Rock and Roll.  I was the bassist for the Regents out of Tacoma until Uncle Sam grabbed my body during the days when there was a draft.  I came to this board to try to get more information on two 'new' acquisitions...  a minty SUNN Sonic 1-40 with the two optional 1x15 D140f cabs, and today's buy, a SUNN coliseum bass head.
