About to buy a vintage Coliseum PA Head
« on: February 26, 2009, 04:26:37 pm »
A guy I just found is selling a old Sunn Coliseum PA Head.  I am looking for one of the old tube versions and I am trying to get that Leslie West tone with my Jr.

Any points on what to look for ???  Is there a bad model/version?

He mentioned it needs work.....any parts expensive or impossible to replace?

Any one out there have one or worked on one ???????

Early models had the Dynaco output transformer. A big gray squarish can. Later models probably had the Schumacher like most 2000s amps you see. Once in a while one of the Dynaco transformers pops up on ebay and they can be expensive. Mercury Magnetics makes a replacement that I think is around $300. They get about the same money for a power transformer. I'd make $ure the amp is in working order.

Whatever someone is willing to pay. Check the pictures at the end of this thread. I think this is what Leslie used most of the time because it has 4 knobs and 2 inputs.
