Help Please? ID this 215 cabinet
« on: April 10, 2009, 12:50:04 pm »
To all

Anybody ever seen one of these 215 cabs?  I'm trying to place the year.  I've never seen one like this and I'm thinking it's mid to late 80"s or the grille has been changed over to metal.  Or the logo is stuck on a different cabinet.

TIA for any help you can give me.

Thanks
Carl

Excuse me, what are you doing up there at the 15th fret? Get back down low where you belong!

Hey Carl - I've got this same cab.  My recollection is early to mid 80s.  It was when Fender had bought Sunn. Metal grille and the emblem are correct.  Mine sounds great, particularly with my Sunn Coliseum head.   Oren  8-)

I was thinking the Fender years too.  I've just never seen a SUNN with bottom porting like that.

Thanks

More like late 90s. Same era as the Model T reissue and 300t. The ID on the back probably has some mention of Fender and made in Mexico. Mine does anyway.

Yea Johnny - you may be right.  I pulled a speaker out about a year ago to identify,  and probably wrote it down somewhere.  Problem is, I don't remember where I wrote it down and the cab is in storage to where I can't get to it for a while.  If I run across where I wrote it down, or can get to the cab, I'll verify speaker dates.

carl..i also have the same cab....and it is loud and clean with any head you plug into it..i've tried all my sun heads thru it and some vintage fender and it's a clean sounding cab...when fender decided to start up the sunn line again this was their cab of choice with their line of heads ,which was only two i think..it has, or mine has, eminece speakers in it...like i said..it's a great cab...i got mine around 1998.....hope this helps...smiles   Bob from mass

The owner has it listed on CL along with a Bassman 300 tube head.  I was ready to go for it, then my wife got laid off.  A sign of the times I guess.  Now I have to curb my gear purchases for the time being.

Thanks for everyone for their replies.

Definitely a late 90's cab.. I saw this paired up in the music store with a Sunn 1200 rackmount head. Definitely Fender made
