Is the SPL2212 a true vintage Sunn product, or is it a Fender model? Has anyone ever used one? If so, how does it sound?

The SPL2212 is on the July 1, 1983 price list so it's' pre Fender. All of the products I've seen that were made after Fender took over say Fender on them somewhere.

You bring up an interesting point Isaac. The whole question of who owned Sunn when is pretty fuzzy. Ownership passed form Conrad to Hartzell in 1971 according to some of the posts I found (searched for Hartzell) but the Fender takeover is more uncertain. I'm pretty sure that production had stopped shortly after Tom Hartzell died (1985?) and the brand was dormant for a couple of years when Fender purchased the brand.
Anyone have any facts to share?

Here's some facts I dug up. The catalogs I have from 1972 to 1983 mention Hartzel. The 1985 catalog does not say Hartzel on it but still lists the Tualatin address. There is a Sound Products price list in the files section dated 6/86 that says "Sunn is a product line of FMIC" and lists a Brea California address. That narrows it down a little.
