I have a SUNN Solarus guitar head. The date on the chassis is April 23, 1970. I just had it completely overhauled by Amphead. It has all new tubes, capacitors, updated grounded power cord for fewer shocks, :) all the connections were inspected and repaired as needed. all the contols, jacks, and tube sockets, were cleaned, the tubes were biased, burned in, and tested. The tubes are all JJ except the GE NOS 6AN8A. It has a 12AU7 and a 12AX7 for the preamp tubes, a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier tube, and a matched pair of KT88's for the power section. I am told by the tech that it's a clean 65 watts. It sounds amazing, actually starts to break up around 6 and just keeps getting better from there. If you are a serious buyer I will arrange a time for you to come play though it. Everything on the amp works. It has reverb and tremolo and a mid boost switch. It has 4 inputs, two bright and two normal. It has two speaker outputs, one 8 and one 4 ohm. I am asking $600 and I will include the receipt for the overhaul. You can e-mail me with any questions you might have.  maxima1602000@yahoo.com

As a fellow Solarus owner (older 40 watt version) I would LOVE to see you get $900 for it.  Keep us posted on how you make out.

Do you think $900 is a bit much? I have seen similar Sunn amps sell on E-bay sell for $800 that have not been gone through. Any thoughts?

I paid $450CAD for my first '71 Solarus, and $300CAD for the second one.

I think if you give it a few years, you might luck out, but maybe put it on ebay and see what happens? Not that a Solarus isn't worth $900, because I'd sell my 1st Gen T before I sold my Solarus(note: no, I'm not selling it), but it'd have to be for a large sum of money that I couldn't ask for at this point and time.

Maybe $700 would be more reasonable, but hopefully you can get close to your asking price!

I didn't really mean to disparage or discourage your effort in any way shape and form.   S**t happens.  I've seen the 2000S go for $1100 - $1500.  I bought mine for around $700 I think.  You never know when it might be just what someone is looking for at the time they are looking and if they want one bad enough....Plus considering all the tech. work you had done to it....

Anyway,  I meant it when I said I would LOVE to see you get that much for it....it wasn't sarcasm...(well maybe just a very little...)

Thanks, I know what you mean.  :-) I am just hoping that it goes to someone who loves Sunn amps and will appreciate it. If I was aguitar player I would hang on to it.
