coliseum 350 black face question...
« on: January 05, 2000, 01:09:00 am »
-hello...

i just got a coliseum 350 black face. i was wondering
if i could get the info on this...basically, what kind
of reputation does it have...and if i made a good
purchase...would there have been a better amp to have
bought...? (200 dollars)

also, what's a good cab to go with it...? someone said
i should just go for the 2x15...i'm trying to get a
sound that's really good low and high end (think that
new wave, factory records sound) i like that
real overdriven punch. i'm going to be using the
amp for both bass and keyboards...

thanks,

-joshua...

Joshua,
The classic setup for the colliseum 300 was a 215B cabinet. The amp also came equipped with a electronic cross-over with adjustable frequency so you could run a slave amp and bi-amp another cabinet or combo (12" & 18") cabinet. These amps were bullet proof and road tough with very few warrentee returns. They were still being produced at the time of the Fender buy-out in 1984. The EQ section allowed for any sound and had a contour control that was a average EQ curve that most players at the time adjusted to with the 215B cab.
I'd say you got a OK deal as long as every thing works.  Don Thompson
