Sunn Model 115SR Cabinet

I would like to either find a couple of these cabinets or if anyone has one if they would be willing to take some pictures and send along.  Also would be very interested in some of the critical dimensions.  Does anyone out there know where I can go to get a plan of this cabinet?  Thank you.

The cabinets Entwistle used are bigger than 115SRs. The 115SR is listed as 24" x 33" x 24". The 115SR does not have the brace in the center of the port and does not have 3 screw corners in the front. There is another photo showing his speaker set up and you can tell his cabinets are about 42 inches wide. Probably used an 18 inch speaker.

Why not build a pair of them?  The main structural support for the cab is in sides, the back, and the speaker baffle.  The port is made by a piece of wood inserted in a dado groove.  The curved horn structure can be made of a piece of thinner, more pliable wood ( 1/8") - in fact, I don't think that the horn sides even need to be wood.  The material that forms the horn doesn't need to provide any structural support...it just directs the sound.  If you look at the pic you can see the screws that hold the horn in place.  The mounting rail behind the horn sides into which the screws go is curved. That should be easy to do on a band saw, or with a jig saw and a radius bar.

Sunn also made a similar cab where the sides of the horn were straight...not curved like the cabs you show in the picture.  They might be a little easier to build and smaller too.

Thanks guys.  I believe it is an 18 myself, because if you read the specifics of WHO gear his bass rig lists two cabinets as having 18's.

I have already built a set of Altec Voice of the Theatre cabinets, and I wanted to use the folded horn again as my sub cabinets to compliment the Altecs.  And I do plan to build a set of these Sunn bottoms.

Issues I have doing that are - box overall dimension, replicating reflex curve (need radius or a cardboard tracing) and port dimensioning.  I can "gonculate" the cabinet dimensions and stuff using the available picture of his rig because some of the 312 cabinets and dimensions are known.  What I can't get from the pictures is the port size (inside the cabinet) and the reflex curve.

I was hoping someone had a similar cabinet and was willing to share (or I'll pay a little for the privilege).  Thanks!

Saw a posting on Baltimore Craigslist site for a 115SR cabinet, bought it.  Person took meticulous care of it, not a scratch and in pristine condition (thank you Fino).  That makes my bass rig 2 Sunn 215Bs and the 115SR for bottom, driven by a Peavey Mark IV bass head for bottoms and a Marshall 100 watt guitar amp for mids. With some up front effects, sounds great.

If anyone is interested I will list dimensions and pictures.  The 115SR is also very similar in dimensions to the Altec 816A driver cabinet - you can easily get those plans off Yahoo!.

It's amazing to me that sub cabinets have been around for such a long time, only disguised as something else.

I've seen this Cabinet on eBay a long time ago. However, when I checked it out again it is already not on the listing. I think the best option that you can do is to hire a person who is a specialist in woodworks, someone who can replicate this cabinet for you.
