4x12 Build
« on: February 11, 2010, 09:28:20 am »
Hello everybody this is my first post on this board.

A friend of mine and I are going to be making a Sunn 4x12 replica and I want to document the build and I figured this would be the best place to do that.

My current guitar rig is a jcm 2000 into a Sunn 6X12 and a jcm 800 into an Avatar 4x12.

(I will get better pictures of my current rig tonight)

The Avatar sounds amazing but it looks like a Fender cab I want my back line to look great so I'm building this Sunn knock off to replace the Avatar cab and complete my back line (for now)

So starting next week we are going to start the build and I plan on posting as many pictures as I can.

It's great to see other's building cabs.  I enjoyed my Sentura project.  Keep posting pics as the project progresses.  I'm interested as I would like to build a 4 X 12 cab also.

Are you going for the 24" wide staggered 4x12 cabinet, like the Sceptre? That would be tres cool next to the 6x12  8-)

Had some trouble getting lumber but that issue is solved now the build will begin on Thursday.

I have the handles, corners and grill cloth.
Order some Tolex and the damn post office sent it back to Mojo so I have to call them tomorrow and have them send it back to my house.

This cab is going to be like the model t cab off of the Sunn webpage (www.sunnamps.com).

One of the guys my band shares a practice space with has a  Sceptre 4x12. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Excellent job!!!  How about some close up pics of just the 4 x 12 so we can see a little more detail?

I wasn't real happy with the ends results.
