"67" Sentura II Finished
« on: February 14, 2010, 06:51:59 pm »
Finally, after several unwanted delays, the cabs for the Sentura II are finished.  I've included 3 final pictures;  The cabs open showing the twin JBL K-130's in each cab, the back of the cabs after closing them up, and a pic of the fronts of the amp showing those great aluminum domes showing through the grill cloth.

Thanks to everyone for looking at my various posts, and for the great comments and support during the project.

A special thanks goes out to Conrad for providing the corners, and for building such great amps.

What makes you think your amp is a 67? Wouldn't it have numbers on the front panel and just an arrow on the knobs? Are those Fender knobs?

This amp is marked 67 on the inside of the chassis.  It originally had the silver diagonal grill cloth, but it had holes that made it unacceptable for use. I replaced it with the fender style.  The outputs are marked "speaker" and "external speaker" where as I believe that "68" Sentura outputs are marked 8 ohm and 4 ohm. The "69" model had the addition of a mid-boost switch.

The knobs were purchased from John Bono ( who is on this site also ). They are manufactured by Rogen of Chicago - as were the originals - and are numbered from 0-10.   Fender knobs are shorter with a slightly larger diameter skirt and are numbered from 1-10.  The "67" Sentura II did not have pointer knobs with the numbers on the front panel. This is my second "67" Sentura II ( I got my first one -NEW- back in the 60's when I was in high school ) and my first "67" Sentura II had the same front panel and knobs as this amp.

It was a fun project and was a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to my next project.  I learned a couple of things and will make some modifications in the future.

Thanks for your comments.

The other day I plugged in my Kurzweil PC2X keyboard into the Sentura.  I had the keyboard set to a concert grand patch.  I set the bass, Treb, and contour  on the ampto about 5 each, and put the volume on 2.  Had the keyboard volume up about 1/2 way.

Played a nice fat "C" chord with the right hand and an octave of "C" in the lowest octave in the bass.  The wife came down stairs and told me to "Turn it DOWN....your rattling the dishes in the cupboards and I can feel the vibration through the floor"  So.....I guess the amp works very well :-D

Rob...nice rig man.

Thank you for your comment.  I believe that the JBL speakers do a lot for the Sunn sound.  Conrad's first Sunns had JBL's...they're so efficient.

Thanks.  I can't wait to get out somewhere where I can turn it up.
