Sunn 2000s w/ 2 x 200s cabinets
« on: March 13, 2010, 08:38:32 am »
Dear Conrad & Sunn fans;

  Yesterday after a 30 year search, I found my 2nd matching (old grille) 200s cab.  Drove to Seattle from Portland and slapped down
$ 500. before I even heard the box. Now, finally I have the dream bass rig.  No longer does my head hang over the sides of the single cab.  Plus the subsonics even at quiet volumes is much boosted.  I play a Telecaster bass ( '72 w/ the humbucker) and NO amp could deliver on the low E...until now.  The 2000s head must have been one of the first-it has Dynaco badged transformers and a hand etched serial number.  Oct 15, 1968 written in red on the inside. JBLs in both boxes. The two cabs & head match surprisingly well looks wise.
  THANK YOU Conrad for your vision and quality that these amps still murder the new ones after 40+ years, you are a God!!!

Thanks for asking re: pics of 2000s/ 2 x 200s cabs.  I am challenged in this regard but my sunn is going to help me w/ it sunnday!  I have a catalog for Sunn  c 1970.  It is just starting to show Coliseum lead w 2 X 4-12 cabs and Coliseum bass w/ 2 cab w/ 18"...all the tube line is in it except the early (killer) PAs.
  1200s is a 2 x 15 enclosure (D130Fs) or a 6 X 12" Vegas or JBL D123.
Sceptre is the thin cab w/ 2 X D130f OR cabs w/ 3 X 12" or 4 X 12". (These could be Sunns, Vegas or JBL D123s)
  An interesting item is the new grille 200s w/ "stackable" enclosures each w/ 15". (Same brands and options as above).
Catalog is from Monti's Music in Chicago (Berkley) IL in '71.
  They made these amps here in Portland, you'd think there would be more of the in this town!!!!

Thanks
