Wow, it went for $2,425.00.. that's nuts... wayyy over priced..
Apparently it's not; someone paid it!
Personal opinions don’t set market value, cash transactions do. Albeit the winner has zero feedback and often they don't pay up, but you never know. Three people who
would pay up chased it over $2K though, that's a good sign IMO.
I would love to see 4 output tube Model T's and 1000 series amps bringing $2K, and 2 tubers bringing $750-$850 on a
consistent basis.
The vintage Sunn market sporadically shows signs of climbing up to where it
should be relative to other vintage gear, but then they seem to slip back. Regretfully Sunn has garnered a reputation for "niche
noise" rather than "mainstream
music" and it seems that the real players with real money don't pursue them like they do vintage Fender, Hiwatt, Ampeg, Marshall, etc.
Pretty sad in my book, it’s like this “guilt by association” keeps the market value repressed. It’s my opinion that tonally old Sunns are as good as any “vintage” gear; decidedly
superior for bass guitar than most others.
I guess I'll have to keep buying and hope for the best.
