Experiences w/ ABY Boxes?
« on: June 08, 2010, 05:56:24 pm »
Now that I'm working with two Model T's, I'd like to run them simultaneously but separately and to different cabs. Naively, I thought splitting my guitar signal to two amps would be simple. In fact, I was sure that in some dusty corner of Guitar Center, I'd find a 3-way, Y-shaped guitar cable that would solve everything. Wrong.

I've been researching ABY boxes because they appear to be my only option, but there seem to be some serious problems with most ABY units (i.e., tone degradation, tone coloring, volume and sustain loss, etc.). Then there's the question of which is "better," active or passive ABY's.

Any thoughts, experiences, or recommendations? Thanks, folks!

i use this(and it works great-no signal degeneration-which you find w/ a lot of cheap models) when i want two different signals coming from 1 guitar:

I normally run 2 beta bass heads with the Morley ABY footswitch. I haven't noticed any signal issues whatsoever.

this is like the cleanest and best ABY box but not the cheapest!

the morley looks good for 2 amps.

the Lehley is needed to control 3 amp line seperatly I guess.

I would like to add one amp at a time while muting the others.
