412s Cabs for Bass?
« on: June 10, 2010, 06:25:08 am »
I know that these cabs weren't specifically designed for one application or the other, but can they realistically handle bass duty? I'm sure I could roll off my lows and be OK, but putting aside that option, can they handle everything a bass rig may throw at them?

I've seen plenty of great bassists use them (Entwistle, especially) but usually in combination with another, larger enclosure (i.e. - 2x15, 1x18). Would I be asking for trouble solely using two 412s cabs as my bass rig? For what it's worth, my bass head is a Model T.

Thanks in advance, folks!

I'm running a 1971 Coliseum 880 head with two 412s cabinets.  Since I really didn't have a choice (came into it in this configuration as part of a CL trade deal) I don't have anything to compare it to.  It seems do to just fine for my application (classic rock) although it would be nice to hear what it would sound like with one 412s cabinet and one 215 or 118 cabinet instead of the second 412s cabinets.
