Sunn Stage Lead SS Amp - Any info?
« on: June 19, 2010, 08:13:46 pm »
Anyone have any info/materials/docs about the Sunn Stage Lead 4x10 SS combo amp?  Picked one up and know nothing about it..just a nice vintage amp and wanted to get some more details about it...

Any help is appreciated!

Anyone even seen one?  I know it's not a tube setup, but I'd love to find some more info on it..here's a pic I snapped on my phone, sorry for the quality...couldn't even find a pic of one on the web.

Brings a tear to my eye when more or less undocumented Sunn gear is discovered. This is an awesome looking amp!
Gibson Les Paul Special
Electra X260
Squier Precision Bass MIJ
Science Hellhawk 100w
Ampeg VT-22/V-4
Science Mother
Mojotone Bluesbreaker 2x12
Mojotone British 4x12

I've never seen one of those before. Looks beautiful!!! Have you opened it up to see what speakers are inside?

Thanks, yeah i'm not exactly sure how I would track down the speaker type...all I see is a number on them... 0114 16 224

Any idea how I would track that down?

The pic below is a scan from the Sunn Master Parts List dated August 1, 1978. It lists speaker replacements for a Stage 115, Stage 212 and Stage 410. Since the Stage series is not in the 1975 or 1979 catalogs, I would assume they were available between those times. The wood looks an awful lot like like a Beta 410. Please post the dimensions. Perhaps the Stage series was a precursor to the Beta series, just a stripped down version without the channel switching. Anyone know of an amp that used a white power switch like that? It looks like the one used on Coliseum amps only white.

gorgeous amp!!!  Pictures can deceive,  but man,  that thing looks like it just came out of the box!!!  Great find.   I bet it's a heavy sucker for a combo though.
