What really matters here is the max watt output at the highest ohms on the cab. These are usually marked on the back of the head. Like my beta output is 100 watts at 4ohms.

I'm into olsd school punk rock myself. I have an Ampeg V-4 can loaded with Celestion Silver Series speakers. They're 80watts and 8ohms. They sound sweet. They have a twangy but yet crunchy tone to them. I got mine through American Musical Supply for $70 a piece which is real good for celestions.
I play in a Pop/Punk band and I have a reall vintage distortion sound like the Ramones. It's rad. Hope this helps. L8r

I just purchased a sceptre head at a pawn shop. I am running it with a 4-12 Laney cabinet loaded with H-H speakers and it kicks.  I am looking for info on the sceptre head, like output?  It has reverb, tremelo, contour, volume, treble, bass, mid boost switch.  I found a jack on the back panel near one of the output tubes.  Any idea
what this is for?  preamp out maybe?  Are all sceptres 100 watts?  It certianly is loud and clean.  I use a strat and RP-12 and it is great for loud gigs.

Charles,

A mysterious "jack" on the top deck between the output tubes is probably used to access the bias pot.

I also have a '69 Sceptre, but w/out the mid boost.

Would like to share notes, etc. See my post about a Sceptre users group.
