For Sale: 1st Gen & 2nd Gen Model Ts (REVISED)
« on: July 17, 2010, 10:05:18 am »
########################################################################

EDIT: Not specifying my prices seems to have caused more confusion than dialogue, so:

1st Gen - $1900 -- SOLD to the mighty, mighty Matto))))

2nd Gen - $1400

#########################################################################

Wooo....I can't believe I'm doing this, but, while helping another forum member score an amazing 1st Gen yesterday, I saw a lot of cash trade hands which made me think one thing: "That could be my mortgage payment, and my wife would be less stressed." Happy wife, happy life. That's the theory, anyway.

So, with that said, I'm selling both a 1st Gen and 2nd Gen. Both amps were just serviced by Big Crunch Amp Repair here in beautiful Baltimore, and both received cap jobs and a full compliment of new tubes (Ruby 6550s and GT 12ax7s). Aside from that, the amps are completely stock with no mods or other alterations with the exception of new power cords.

Cosmetically, the 1st Gen is conservatively an 8 out of 10. No tears, rips, or problems with the tolex. The 2nd Gen has some fading to the SunnO))) badge, and the red centers have faded on several of the knobs. Again, no issues with the tolex. It is missing one of the "wings" on the back panel used to wrap the power cord around. Conservatively, a 7 out of 10 due to the faded badge and knobs.

No surprises here. I'll include all of the paperwork detailing the exact caps that were replaced on each amp and all associated repairs. Both amps are good to go for another 20 years.

Cheers folks,
James

I think that a twist on the old joke is in order here.  Keep the amp and get rid of the wife.  With proper care the amp will still be putting out after 15-20 years.  Ha Ha Ha.  I'm married so I can tell married jokes.

I've updated and clarified my original posting.

If you're interested and I haven't already talked to you, get in touch. I'm posting them to Ebay as soon as I finishing polishing the casings, reinstalling the chassis, and taking photos.

On the bright side, I'm stoked the Model T has a great new home.

On the not-so-bright side, I'm worried this means I have to join the Crate forum. Going from two Model T's to a single, solid-state Crate head is, shall we say, "different." It's funny: 320 watts of Crate, solid-state goodness isn't nearly as loud or physically imposing as a single Model T with the master volume on 2.

haha when i saw the crate i mentioned the same thing..."how can you go from two model t's to a crate?"  and playing the two together was probably the greatest sound/gain/sustain/harmonics/etc. ive ever heard.  whoever scores the 2nd gen is gonna be one happy camper

can you adjust the tones of the two when daisy-chaining them or does the 2nd amp just act as a slave?

If you're daisy chaining the amp's together (via the out / in on the amps) you'll get tone into power. So for example, if I'm using a model T and use the output from a Model T into the inut of an Orange, I'll essentially have Model T tone w/ Orange power, and vice versa. If  I remember correctly. That's why a lot of dudes who use the concert bass' and colliseum bass' will have a concert/colliseum slave unit, it's like having two heads basically.

So the master unit would essentially send it's preamp tone/volume to the Slave's power section, make sense?
