Generic Footswitch for Coliseum 880?
« on: August 11, 2010, 07:15:22 am »
So since I'm having absolutely no luck finding a vintage footswitch for my Coliseum 880 head can anyone out there advise me as to if I can just buy a generic, two-button, latching footswitch with a 1/4" TRS cable put a Radio Shack 1/4" stereo to dual RCA phono plug adapter cable on it and have the same result?  From what I have read the left button on the original footswitch would switch the distortion and the right would switch the boost remotely instead of using the switches on the front.  Would I get the same result with this configuration?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well since no one has replied I'll reply to my own posting.  I was able to cobble this exact arrangement together this afternoon using some pieces and parts from our music room and a 2-button, latching Crate footswitch that my son is using with his vintage Kustom Lead II and I happy to report that it does work just fine with my Coliseum 880 head.  Now I just have to go buy my own footswitch and adapter cable.

Good for you. I have done much the same thing with my Sentura II. Peavey footswitch with a stereo ¼" plug into a ¼" to two RCA plugs into the footswitch jacks on the amp. Works great.
