Model T FS
« on: August 15, 2010, 04:11:23 pm »
being that I already have a couple, I'll pass this on. Says it needs a repair, it trips the breaker when it's powered on, and the bid's already at $710. I think somebody knows exactly how to fix it.

No problem, Matt. It was for an amazing price (wasn't it only like 1,000?) That red paint can be replaced pretty easily, just remove the sheet metal, sand 'er down and hit it with a coat of Enamel paint (semi-gloss black). As for the tolex, if you don't want to Re-tolex it, I'd suggest this stuff: http://semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=190

I've redone my car's interior with the stuff (leather) and it doesn't fade, crack, peel, NOTHING. It's amazing, I'm sure it would DEFINITELY work great on Tolex. Cheers.

yeah the reds not the greatest color.  i bought it off of brian daniloski, from the talented one man band: darsombra, he said the amp used to belong to the band red giants, who painted all of their gear red.  brian was real cool though, plus his girlfriend made fresh chocolate chip, oatmeal, gingerbread cookies (thats all in one cookie) and filled up a container for me to take home.  he was trying to sell the amp before he went on his european tour with wino.  i can't believe he was only aking 1000 for it, its a good deal considering how expensive these things are getting, let alone first gens.

oh, any color suggestions?

wow, a 1st gen. model t just sold for $710 on the bay.  it was a far cry from good condition but claimed to be in working order, i have a feeling that i wont see a deal like that ever again.  even the model t for repair, up earlier in the week, sold for $900 without tubes

Yeah, that one that went for 710 was rusty, painted over, missing the side handles and the rear cover. It had the filter cap replaced though.  I won a clean model t  that has been sitting for over a decade yesterday on ebay for 1200.  What sucks is it was one single 0-feedback bidder against me who drove the auction up past 900.  It screamed of shill bidding, but the seller proved otherwise.  I've NEVER had a 0-feedback bidder pay for an auction they've won when I've sold stuff on ebay, so I feel like I should have gotten it for 900, but 1200 is still a good deal for the condition it appears to be in.

Definitely. I had a feeling that one for $710 was a little worn down. Then again, you can't always expect these things to be mint, they are 35+ years old.
