best replacement speakers?
« on: August 23, 2010, 08:31:01 pm »
i'm in need of replacement speakers as i've had a little too much fun with my T's.  i was looking into eminence speakers and wasn't really sure which to go with.  i was recommended wizards paired with swamp thangs or texas heat, but i'm iffy buying something i can't try out.  anyone have any suggestions on speaker brands, models, etc?  or even a good replacement cab to go with a model t?

I'm 60 years old.  Got my first Sunn Sentura II when I was a junior in in high school ( 1967 ).  It came with JBL D-130's.  I've been  JBL fan ever since.  My Sunn clone cabs have JBL K-130's.  In my opinion, they're the best.

what would the total wattage be on them? 150? ( i think it said vintage 30s =50W and greenbacks =25W) because i just blew out my 412l at 160 rms and the model t, at it's peak, is 170...  so my question: is it safe to run the head, at close to full volume with overdrive and both channel volumes to ten, into a cab with 150 rms?
and i've seen your live photos and you're obviously not fooling around when it comes to volume

I went with the Emi Wizard 16ohm for my open-back Sunn 2x12 and I'm still glad I did. :-D

It loves overdrive and fuzz at high volume! For 86,75$CAD you can't be wrong and the build quality is amazing.

look at my thread on them, got some pics:
