2000S : Output Transformer .
« on: October 28, 2010, 01:15:16 am »
I Have chance to obtain a 2000S. The output jacks are 16/8 ohm. I would
prefer 8/4ohm. Schematics on our site show a 4ohm tap as well as the 16ohm.
Did all versions and years of 2000S have both? If I buy it,
I would like to convert to 8/4. Any problem or complications with this?

I had my Solarus done that way. The Tap should be there (4 ohm) ready to hookup. Check Transformer part number against Schematic to be sure. Schem should show unused 4 ohm tap.
Bands currently. For Fox Sake (Lead Guitar) Aces High (5 string Bass) Zoot Suit Riot (Tenor Sax) Miles to Midnight (Fretless jazz bass) Rockfish (5 string bass) Spent Youth (5 string bass) Tried as Adults (5 string bass)

Most of the info you need can be found in this thread:

If your amp has the big gray potted Dynaco transformer, the wire colors might not be correct. Post a reply or PM me and we'll try to find the correct info.

Thanks, guys,,won't actually know what transformer until I get to see it in person.
But from the pics and info on the referred thread, assuming colors are correct..to change 16/8 to an 8/4, does this procedure sound right? :

-Disconnect yellow 16 ohm wire from speaker jack but leave the 16 ohm yellow lead from transformer connected to feedback loop.

-Move the white 8ohm wire over to terminal on speaker jack where the yellow 16 ohm had been removed.

-Move brown 4 ohm wire from its parked terminal, to speaker jack terminal that the white 8ohm had been removed.

Am I missing anything?

Might want to attach the 16 ohm wire removed from the speaker jack to the parking location, unless you removed the wire completely. Other that that, it looks good to me.
