Output transformers
« on: December 31, 2010, 10:07:57 am »
The problem with my newly purchased 200S appears to be the output transformer, and we're having trouble finding one.  Anyone know where to get a replacement for these units?  We do have a local outfit that can rewind them.  According to the tech it's only putting out about 25 watts at 16 ohms.

Triode Electronics makes copies of the Dynaco transformers that Sunn used in their early amps. Triode recommends these for Sunn amps. I've used these to restore 60 watt Sunn amps myself. Go to:  http://store.triodestore.com/a4dyoutr43oh.html
Mercury Magnetics also makes replacement output transformers, but they are much more expensive.

Good Luck!

Compare your amp to the photos that I posted at the end of page one of this thread:

Check your amp to make sure the 16 ohm tap is connected like you think it is. Some amps have had their taps changed.
