What is this?
« on: January 02, 2011, 08:43:11 am »
I've seen one other picture of this thing but I dunno what it it.
It's the tube amp in the picture.
Someone in Michigan should hop on this! Just for the cab (note the old logo) and coliseum that's a deal.

Yes indeed, someone should.

What "that" is, or at least appears to be, is an original Sunn Amp with cabinet.

Do you know much about those? Like the name or the watts or tubes? Pretty curious looking amps.

Go to the Sunn Catalog Thread at the head of this page.  Look at the first entry...1966 amps.  IT will give you some basic information as to what was what.  Contact the guy on Craig's List and ask if he can tell you the type of power tubes in the amp head, and what kind of speakers...and how many.... in the speaker cab..  If the tubes are 6550's or KT88's it would be one of the 60 watt amps.  Back then the amps didn't have names...just numbered.  If you can get the preceeding information from the seller, the listing in the Catalog Thread will tell you what amp it is.  Wish I had an extra $400...I'd snap it up righ away.

The amp pictured is a 60 watt amp. The chrome Dynaco chassis is 9"x9". The 40 watt power amp is a long skinny chassis, 14"x5".

After taking another look at the cabinet, I think that the amp might be a 240-C-60 bass amp.  The cab looks to be about the size of a 200S and I believe that the cabs for the 2 x 15 guitar amps had the offset 15's in a 36 x 24 cab.
