« on: February 17, 2011, 08:12:05 pm »
hey, i'm new here. i've got a 1x15 beta bass combo and a silverface concert bass. need footswitches for both but i need one for the beta more. anyone on here have one they want to get rid of or know of a replacement/substitute that works just as well? i only need the kind that switches from channel A or B and then has a function for BOTH. any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

Most ABY's won't let you use both channels simultaneously.
You need the correct one to have one channel clean/one dirty/and both at the same time

I used a Big Shot ABY for this very application with my old beta.  it does A, B and both.  It has lots of other uses too if you get creative.

hmmm, how did you make it work? do you just plug your instrument into the input and then that into whatever channel and it will let you switch from there? the footswitch input jack on the beta bass is weird, it's got 3 pins on it, i've never seen anything like it.

Exactly.  The ABY has one input (instrument) and 2 outputs.  You run one output to channel A and the other to channel B.  Then use the switch to regulate A/B or Both.

It's also great for running one instrument to two separate amps, and has phase switching, ground lift, etc for this reason.

I now use it to run 2 signals from by bass into a 2000s, leaving one pure and putting effects into the other signal.  Note that this trick doesn't work with digital amps, ime, but it's a cool way to maintain that pure tone while still introducing some effects.

The ABY can also be turned around to run 2 instruments into one input, just plug the instruments into the "out" jacks and the amp to the "in" jack.
