So I picked up my first Sunn rig and was hoping to just ask a few questions and tie up a few loose ends. Maybe get some recommendations to boot.
The head is a Concert Lead. I opened it up and saw that it is marked as 1972. Upon inspection there is almost no corrosion anywhere and the components look good...no leaky caps and no charcoal
A little Deoxit D5 on the pots and they spin smooth...so far so good.
The cab is a 215B. I pulled the grill off and yuck...someone had hacked in a set of Altec Lansing 421a's. Looks like they opened the speaker holes up with a jig saw to get them to fit...and then stuck them down with some sort of liquid nails. I think these were meant to mount from the back? Anyway I carefully extracted them and cleaned up that mess, made some gaskets and put them back in. There was a broken horn in there too which I pulled out.
Then the moment of truth...plugging her in! Powers up! We have BASS! But...we also have a constant hum and I'm getting shocked a bit through the guitar. Having seen no loose wires or solder breaks to account for a bad ground, I sent it off to Wire in Portland OR to have it run through. Fingers crossed!

So a few questions:
The speaker upgrade consensus seems to be the Eminence 3015's which check in at 450 watts @ 8 ohms. I don't know what the Altecs that are in it are rated at wattage wise...but they don't seem to have the juice I would like. Would the Concert Lead push the 3015's well enough or will I need more power...a Concert Slave perhaps?
A stupid question on a tangent: If I were to run the Concert Lead to a Concert Slave and into my cab would the wattage be cumulative? Or would I lose the juice from the head because it ties in after the preamp?
I'll hit the brakes here...thanks for reading!!
