Sunn Stagemaster head, what's it worth?
« on: March 09, 2011, 04:57:33 pm »
Hi, I have a Sunn stagemaster head that I am looking to get rid of, but I don't know what it's worth. Any ideas?

I haven't seen one sold for long time, I don't think there is an answer to "what's it worth" since there isn't really a frame of reference, so what it's worth is what someone will actually pay for it.
Just the same as any used gear.
You should probably post an ad in the classified section with an asking price that you would take for it, with an "or best offer". You'll probably get some valid offers.
Or put it on eBay, then you'll know what it's actually "worth" on the open market. If there is a minimum you would take to "get rid of" it, then use a reserve.
You should probably include a full description, I think they are pretty obscure.

Thanks for the info, I know i was pretty ambiguous.  I really don't know ANYTHING about it, I don't even know if it is for bass or guitar. I played it with a guitar through an orange 4x12 and it sounded pretty cool....parametric EQ and all that. It has a spring reverb, solid state, 2 channels and oddly enough wattage selection from 1 through 120 w.  Is this actually meant for guitar? It was a thrift store find, so I don't have any indication of value.

On a related note, I was wondering if I could use this amp for it's EQs as sort of a preamp. I have never done this before, but I would like to try to run the sunn amp head through my mesa single rectifier, anyone have any advice on how to? Is this even possible?
