Model T
« on: April 13, 2011, 05:49:54 pm »
Alright. I'm going to post this despite knowing everyone else is looking for the same thing. Looking for a 1st Gen Model T in excellent condition, preferably with original tubes or some from the same era. (One can dream, can't they?) If there is anyone who needs some extra money, but wants to make sure their amp goes to a good home, feel free to contact me. Again, I want one or more that have been babied, not epic battles. Thanks, everyone.

there was a guy I talked to a while back who had a NOS one (original tubes, brochure, receipt, manual, etc.). He wanted 3 grand though. I ended up getting lucky and finding a NOS one for almost half that price. Put up an ad on craigslist saying you're looking to buy a Model T, I'm sure dudes will flood you with emails.

I was about to post that! it looks rusty, but if it works, it's such a nice amp anyway.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that one on ebay and actually called the store and the guy told me he wanted $2250. I told him he was out of his mind. I've waited this long to find one, I'll hold out for the one I want, if it's possible.

wow! even if it was restored like new I wouldn't pay that price. I guess the fact that it's NOS jump the value?

you can get them in a better condition for around 1500$ but restored with new tubes and caps, that's what I paid for mine. ($CAD)

R&R Vintage typically asks very high prices for their gear. Somebody must buy stuff from them at those prices or they wouldn't be able to stay in business  ...

I've got a friend who works at R&R vintage, he said they were pricing at $2k on this when he first told me about it.  I could try to do a little better than that with him too if anyone needs a negotiator, but it's still going to be pretty high.
When life gives you lemons, buy amplifiers.
