Chev, if you are still looking for a pair of JBL D-140's I have a pair with original cones in the garage that I'd like to sell. If you are interested let me know your email address with a PM and I can send you pics. I'm looking for $300 or best offer for the pair, plus shipping.

Thanks for asking, that's really tempting but I think I'll hold on for now. I have to pay my Model T 1st! Feel free to sell them to anyone else on the forum tough.

I just installed the mint CTS Sunn Bass Transducer I had in a box and the Sunn 158B that came in the 215s into my two Sunn 1x15, it works good with the Bass into the Solarus and a Big Muff Bass crank!

Don't know if JBL works good with a Fuzz out tone or they are better at doing clean? I would be scared to ruin them with the dirt tone I use...?

I've got the Legend CB158 in the 215 reissue for the clean tone in parallel with the dirt and they kick ass! I wouldn't change them for anything. :-o

They're 16 ohm speakers Ed. They're in REALLY nice shape.

I also have a D130 and a D140F that need recones that I'd sell for $75 each or $150 for the pair, plus shipping.

If you're interested, PM me, though I think you like 8 ohm speakers better right?

Thanks Chev. I might just stick them up on ebay one of these days....

Greg

CORRECTION:

Ok I looked again at them and I was wrong...they are 8 ohm speakers guys.

chev, JBLs are just really good drivers IMO. They accurately reproduce whatever signal you feed them, be it clean, dirty, whatever. Not everybody wants that, so they aren't the right driver for every person in every application, but you're not going to ruin them by playing dirty tones through them. Like any electronic device, though, you might ruin them by trying to put too much current through them.

Actually 16 ohm drivers are more useful to me overall, and I would think the same could be said for most vintage Sunn aficionados since you have 16, 8, and 4 ohm taps to work with.
Two 16’s give me an 8 ohm cabinet wired the way I prefer, without series daisy chaining and other nonsense. I just bought a pair of 16 ohm K140s a couple of weeks ago, or I’d be all over those D140’s. If I get another Sunn 215 loaded with “inferior” drivers, or find an empty one somewhere on the cheap I’ll get in touch!

I haven't been in a huge hurry to sell them Ed, but would like to probably by mid summer if I don't find someone locally or here on the Sunn forum to get them. I am "pretty" sure they are 16 ohms, but I would have to open them up and look again. They are somewhat buried at the moment in my garage behind of pile of amps I need to fix and my 2000S head and cabinet, but I will see if I can get a look see and clarify for any interested parties soon.

Ok I was wrong and have noted my correction above, but these speakers are 8 ohm, original cone JBL D140F's in perfect shape. I have a D140F and a D130F that both need recones, and these are also 8 ohms, but they can be reconed into whatever impedance wanted depending on whatever recone kit you get. They're all for sale and I will probably stick them up on ebay within a month or two if no one gets them here.

I want them, but I already have more drivers in general and more JBLs in particular than I'll ever use.

I feel your pain Isaac...haha. I would love to keep them, but I have what I need for my 2000S cabinet already, and can use the money for college so they will be gone by the end of summer one way or another for sure. If you find you have some dough and want to get them, then let me know and I'll make you a deal.

Seriously, I need to get rid of some of the stuff I already have. It's taking up too much space as it is.

I'm kind of in the same boat and need money for school. I want to sell my modded Sonic 1/200S too since it duplicates the sound I get from the 2000S, and now that I have a complete 2000S rig I don't need the smaller amp anymore. I'll get rid of them eventually, just like I'm sure you will be able to thin the herd also.
