I was the same position a few months ago with my sunn coliseum lead, my solution was to purchase a step down transformer (intended for power tools on buildings sites) these are relatively small but heavy bucket shaped things that are typically yellow.
The key point to remember is the rating, you can find little step down transformers at about 300-500Va in electronic stores, and im not sure on the model t's input needs but my coliseum need 900 watts so i played it safe with a 3.3kVa trannie.
This was best for me as ill eventually take the head back and forth to the states, leaving the transformer at home!
I was also reluctant to mess with the insides and change the input transformers (some crazy kids say 110v sounds better)
