Sonaro questions
« on: April 28, 2011, 12:51:39 am »
ok so i know this subject has been touched on but...

I have a Sunn Sonaro head. and the tubes in it are....

12AX7
6AN8A
and 6L6 x2
thats it.

has anyone seen a sonaro or similar era head with 6L6s? it needs some work so I'm gonna take it in at some point to get it recaped and such but was wondering if it was worth it to keep the 6L6s or have it put back to the 6550. any ideas or info would be awesome

if your wondering what kind of cab i have its a Sunn 215sh (folded horn)

None of the Sunns ever came with 6L6's, so the proper original tubes are KT88's or 6550's.

Hi there,my older Sonaro has the 7199 tube in the P.I. position and comes with 6CA7's (EL34's),if yours has a 6AN8A tube,it probably had 6550's or KT88's in it,Sunn never used 6L6's as I recall,Mel.
