SA20 - Blows Fuses
« on: June 04, 2011, 07:52:17 pm »
Hi all and it's great these forums exist.

I'm trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting my amp. Both F2 and F3 blow only on 1 channel when the amp is turned on. I bought this amp and have cleaned all the dust out of it, replaced the fuses hoping someone just shorted the speakers at one point. But the replacement fuses also blew.

1) swapped board location to make it easier to access the problem board, problem moves with board.
2) fuses installed were of proper rating (10A-125V or 5A-250V). I know the board shows 6A, but Radio Shack has 5A also.
3) I did have speakers plugged in, no noise at all at power up. No input signal.
4) the other channel works perfectly

I was going to sit down with both boards and do some resistance checks and compare to see if I can narrow the problem a bit, but was hoping someone had seen this before.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Jimmy

Alright then...My SA 20 is fixed!!!!!!!
A friend took it to a guy for me and he clamed that he replaced all  the transistors in channel B and that is what the problem was....
Although I have no actual proof other than the amp is working great now!!!
Nuff said.
