The differences are mostly in the controls. None is better than the other, until you specify a specific use for it. Even then, they're just different, not necessarily better.

Different EQ range on the 880/CB, the CL is a guitar head so the EQ range is shifted higher for more highs, etc. The 880 is by far the hardest to find, the CB and CL are pretty common. None of them are worth thousands. You can squeek them out all day on craigslist for 200-400 bucks, no biggie. Don't play the hype, buy one from a reasonable person and you'll have yourself a fantastic amplifier.

What's the preamp like on the coliseum lead? Compared to, say, a redfaced concert lead?

the Coliseum is SUPER clean, and at 320@2 ohms, super loud. I could never get mine to break up. The Concert Lead does break up at 7-8, and sounds great. I like the Coliseum heads for bass, only...

Funny, that picture is of my Coliseum heads.
The Coliseum Lead is for sale if you are interested... perfect working condition.

I've been using them for years, never had an issue... and yes, they are LOUD!

Hi all.
Since this topic is pretty active and there is a generic reference in Coliseums amps, I would to ask a question.

What is the "Brite Switch" in Coliseum Bass suppose to do??
In mine the only thing that actually does in my sound, is a volume drop and no specific change of tone. I had it checked with my technician and everything is according the schematic.

So is that normal??
Thanks in advance.

That isn't normal. The brite switch should do exactly what it says, brighten up your sound. There should be a high freq increase, no volume decrease, at all. If anything, it should sound a tad louder, since highs hit harder than lows. Perhaps a bad switch? Clean it out with contact cleaner, and report back.
