: Has the circuitry been checked out? You might have a short somewhere.
I haven't had a "pro tech" check it. I have checked and set the bias on the output tubes and checked the plate voltage and everything's okay. I installed new GE 6550s and set the bias according to specs (around 50ma per tube @504Vdc on the plates). The amp works fine, and I've been told that this is probably par for the course and not to worry.

: : Hi All! I am very happy to see a site dedicated to highly "underrated" vintage Sunn amps! I own a '73 Model T and love it. I use it as a bass amp and it gets the "growl" with my Jazz bass.
: : I do have a question. I have noticed that my power transformer gets pretty hot (ie. I can only lay my hand over it for about 3-5 seconds before getting unconfortable). I've heard these Sunn tranny's are rock solid (at least the early 70's ones). Does anybody else experience this?
