SR 6520OP Sunn PA System
« on: October 18, 2011, 09:39:14 am »
i have a lead on buying a SR 6520OP Sunn PA System for my little band that needs a PA system. It has 2 15in speakers with cones. Has 6 channels with graphic equalizer, but knobs have fallen off. Bass, Midrange, and Treble boosts. Also has reverb, phantom power, and some other features and inputs.  what do you think I should pay for it?

Is that the one on Cleveland Craigslist? I would ask the seller for a sales price. IMO blind bidding is a scam, a suckers game meant to get a buyer to pay too much money. If the seller won't at least set a benchmark, maybe a $XXX or best offer, I would be hesitant to even do business with them.

Anyway, it looks like that was a Fender/Sunn model that Fender continued with after they stopped branding gear with the Sunn logo. I found a manual;

http://support.fender.com/manuals/pro_audio/SR-4150P_SR-6300P_SR-8300P_SR-6520P_SR-8520P_PoweredMixers_manual.pdf

It seems like a decent unit; 520 watts rated for 2 ohms with fairly up to date features, phantom power, etc.
I didn't see one in eBay completed listing, but there was one with a $400 BIN or best offer.

In about 3 days you will be able to see what one actually sold for. Much better reference than some lame "just email offers" scam.  :wink:

That I couldn't tell you. I didnt even know the units existed until I read your post much less what it's market value is.
I would say that if the eBay one sells for $200+ it would seem to be a good number.

However, in a blind bid situation you could email a $200 offer and never hear back from the seller because someone else offered $205, or buy the unit for $200 and then have the one on eBay sell for $100.
You never know-which is why "blind bids" are so biased in the seller's favor and are just plain bad business IMO.
