suggestions for a bass amp

Hi,

New to that forum, but know the brand since years.
Being from France, never had the chance to give it a try.
So let's ask for some advises.

First, i do play bass and analog synth in a well...how to describe...let's say indie black doom rock band.

My current rig is a ampeg svt-3 pro with 4*10 classic HLF cab both from US. I do use fuzz stompboxes like a diy zvex woolly and a preamp simulation aka the rusty box.

I'd like to add some more balls to that rig. So i thought about adding a second head with another cab. Actually in local ads there's a 300T and a 1200S heads to buy. Do you think i should go for one of theses or i should try to give a chance to grab a model T ?

And speaking about the model T should i act like a sheep and try to find an expensive 1st gen because it works better on bass ? Read somewhere the 1st gen is close to fender bassman head, is this correct ?

I can't help you much, not having played through all of the amps, or even most of them. A 1G T is excellent for bass. I didn't care much for my 2G T until I modified it to sound more like a 1G. I have no idea how the Fender-era Model T would sound for bass. It's a dedicated guitar amp, but lots of guitar amps sound good for bass.

Both the 300T and the 1200S have more power than the Sunn Model T's. I'd say go with the 1200S if power is a consideration. I don't know about price. As for sound, that's a personal thing. Some will say that the Sunn T is the holy grail, but you might prefer any one of the three. I like my T, my 200S and my Sceptre (guitar amp) for bass. They're all different, and they all sound good.
