Sunn SL160 - Any Good?
« on: August 01, 2013, 09:29:41 pm »
Hey,

Wondering if this is a good amp to buy as a practice amp. Someone around me is selling one in pristine condition for $200. I LOVE the Sunn sound and I'm wondering if this would be a low wattage alternative to my Beta Lead. What's the sound like?

The closest thing to a Beta series amp in a small combo package is the Alpha series - 112R/P/etc. Same preamp design as a Beta with a reverb option. Usually much less $$.

I've been looking for an Alpha in good condition since forever. No luck.

I bought this amp, it's in excellent contition. No footswitch, though. Anyone make a replacement? Or any other ideas?

I checked the footswitch jack, and a 1/4 fits perfectly. I inserted an effect into there and hit the switch - it turned on without a problem.

I'm wondering if a generic footswitch like this would work:

No LED's, but what the hell.
