Sunn 112R problems
« on: February 02, 2002, 07:50:00 pm »
As the subject says, I have a 112R with some
problems.  Specifically, it has a blown speaker
(this seems to be common, I think) and it shows
about 44VDC on the output terminals.  Try as I
might, I just can't seem to locate a faulty component.  Both power transistors seem fine, as do all other transistors.  I'm guessing that this 4558 in the circuit is some type of servo to used to minimize DC offset, but I can't tell for sure.  Any suggestions?

Hello:
There are two diodes used to shunt emi flyback and dc voltage on the outputs. They will be tied to the signal out and the + - power supplies. If indeed you are at full PS voltage and the output transistors have been checked then the diodes might be bad. Of course the speaker blew cuz they are not designed to handle DC current.

If it's too loud, you're too old.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll take a look in that
direction.
