Hooking up Sunn Concert Controller 1 to a Cabinet
« on: February 26, 2025, 04:11:14 am »
Hi,

I recently acquired a Sunn Concert Controller 1 and I wanted to make sure I hook it up correctly. The only set of speakers that I have to hook it up to right now is a 300 watt Peavey 4x12 cabinet which is 16 ohms. Would this work at all? If not, I'll wait to hook it up to something more appropriate.

The back of the Controller says that the ohms should be no lower than four ohms or the amp could overheat and shut off. Would it depend on how many cabinets/speakers you are running the amp into? I plan on eventually getting whatever kind of speakers it would be appropriate to use this.

Thanks for any advice on using this correctly.

I also have a sunn 215 cabinet and I use that with my 200s head.

It should work into 16 Ohms, just not as loud as it could be.

Yes, the 16 ohm cab should be fine.

Yes, it matters how many cabinets you hook up to it. If the 215 is a 4 ohm cabinet, then no other cabs should be used along with it. If it's an 8 ohm cabinet, then another 8 ohm cabinet could be used, for a total of 4 ohms.

How are you planning to use it?
