Price for a Beta (iv?) footswitch
« on: September 27, 2006, 06:07:39 pm »
Does anybody have any opinions on how much a beta footswitch is worth?  There's one on eBay for $89 plus 10 for shipping, and there's a guy I found (not on ebay, thru a shop near me) that's offering one for $95 with free shipping....

...both these seem way overpriced to me.  I dunno.  Your thoughts?

I would think a footswitch would be worth it's weight in gold if you have a beta without one.

1.What's the purpose of using a beta amp if you can't switch/blend channels on the fly? As far as I can tell that's the feature on the beta that makes it most desireable.
2.The footswitch is unique to the amp, nothing else will work.
3.They don't make them any more.

Buy the footswitch if you need one (I have no connection to the auctions in question, by the way)! :-)

for a footswicth, that is a bit pricey.    HOWEVER, those switches are only compatible with the head itself.     and i rarely see any on ebay.   i need one for my concert lead.   so would i pay 85 / 95 bucks for one?   yes!

well, the beta switch is just for betas, and there aren't that many (and there arent any substitutes).  cant you use just a regular switch for the concert lead?

nope.   concert lead has the 5 prong jacks.

Only the "newer" red-faced single channel concert leads had that connector for the footswitch.

The "older" black/silver dual channels had RCA connections for the footswitch... and yes, they used plain old footswitching - just ground or unground to switch that particular function.

Radio shack has a nice 6 inch or so stereo 1/4" jack to dual RCA plug cable that makes it easy to connect up (something like) a dual button Peavey footswitch!!

For the older concert leads that is.
